- Did you know that Avonlea won a $10,000 grant from Mosaic Canada to promote healthy nutrition? Some of this money has been used to update our Foods Lab, and some will be invested in the education of what nutrition is through classroom projects. So, we need to start somewhere. Effective immediately, students are no longer able to bring in energy drinks or pop into the school. Pop has not been sold in the school for a long time because of Health Canada guidelines. It is okay for special occasions, but not for a daily drink while you are learning. Water is the best! High school students, if you really need the caffeine, try alternatives that have reduced sugar! We want to stay healthy, boost our immunity, and nourish our bodies with good, wholesome nutrition.
- Thank you to our SCC members, parents, students and staff who came out to help with the Second Annual Gopher Hole Blitz! Special thanks to Mr. Nick Petruic for supplying the dirt and tractor (and tractor rides) to make quick work of a big job!
- Thank you to our SLC for providing us with the pancake supplies we used to celebrate World Student Day and for providing snacks to all students on World Food Day.
