Monday, October 26
- Teacher Prep day – no school for students. This was a switch made to accommodate the polling station for the Provincial election being held here at the school.
Thursday, October 29
- It’s Costume Day – all students are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes. We have had to make a couple of changes to our usual Halloween festivities this year:
-
- In an effort to minimize the amount of “stuff” being brought into the school, we do ask that no extra accessories accompany the costumes (i.e. wands, swords, etc).
- Unfortunately, we can not have outside treats brought into the school this year. We will be providing the kids with a few treats that have been quarantined for the appropriate amount of time.
Friday, October 30
- This will be a regular school day with Day 5 classes running
Other items of interest:
- We have received permission to have Lifetouch come in to take individual school pictures! Pictures have been booked for November 13 (dates for retakes and Grade 12 Cap & Gown are tba)
- Parents – do you need help dealing with: Siblings fighting with each other and/or with you? Your kids not listening or talking back? Being met with defiance and other more specific examples of non-productive behaviour? If so, you might be interested in this Responsible Parenting Program webinar.
- We are getting so close to being able to finish our family wall – just 24 families left to go! If you haven’t done so already, please take a minute to send us a pic and we will have your crew added to the project. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all families who have done so already.
- Check out the Avonlea School Facebook page to catch Meet Us Monday. Since we were not able to host a Meet The Teacher Night this year, we thought this might be a great way to introduce – and reintroduce – our wonderful staff members to our community.
