Other Items of Interest:
- We want to thank our families who are doing their best to navigate the protocol set out by Prairie South pertaining to the development of Covid symptoms. You will already have received two flow charts from the division outlining their expectations, but we are including them again to help you determine procedures should your child develops symptoms at home as well as what will happen should they develop symptoms while they are at school.
- Reminder to families that students should be taking their masks home every night to be washed or exchanged for a fresh one, as we are all expected to be wearing a clean mask every day.
- School Pictures have been cancelled/postponed throughout our division until further notice. We will let families know as soon as there is any new information.
- Grade 12 students and parents will want to check out the Remax Quest for Excellence Bursary Program
- Thank you to all of the families who have sent in their wonderful family photos. If you have not yet sent yours in, we would appreciate receiving them as soon as possible so we can start working on our Avonlea School Families wall display.

Terry Fox plans:
This year is the 40th Anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope and Avonlea School is proud to be continuing the legacy of one of our greatest heroes. Although we cannot maintain our long-standing Dunnet Park traditions, it is very important to continue to honour Terry and his important work.
There will not be any pledge forms going home this year, but we are hopeful that families will continue to support the Terry Fox Foundation by contributing online. Students can set up their online accounts by visiting www.terryfox.ca/Avonlea and encouraging family and friends to contribute that way.
On our end, classroom teachers will be talking to students about Terry and his Marathon of Hope. On September 24, each classroom will be taking some time to go on a mini Terry Fox Walk around town. So far the weather looks like it will be great for the walk, but we ask parents to keep an eye on the forecast for the day and to ensure that students are sent with weather appropriate clothes and footwear as well as a water bottle for the walk. Each group will be enjoying a snack upon their return to the school.
Unfortunately, we are unable to have parents join us this year.
