Understanding Your Child’s Progress Reports
There have been many changes in education over the last decade that may leave parents/guardians somewhat muddled. One of these changes has been Outcome Based Assessment. Our Superintendent of School Operations, Darran Teneycke, has offered to better explain this way of assessing your child on November 12th from 6:30 – 7:30 pm in the Caronport Elementary School Library. Knowing that many of you have young children, we will offer a babysitting service in the gym. Please email or call Carol Eby with the number of children you will be bringing so that we can plan for sitters appropriately.

On November 4 and 5, the BCA staff will be engaging with Tamara Neufeld Strijack of the Neufeld Institute to learn about how we can best understand and meet the needs of our newest generation of students. She will be interacting with us around research from her latest book, Reclaiming Our Students: Why Children Are More Anxious, Aggressive, and Shut Down Than Ever―And What We Can Do About It.

Our community is one that is continuously growing and changing. This December the School Community Council from Caronport Elementary will be gathering Christmas bundles that will be randomly dispersed amongst the community from items that are brought in specifically for “Love In Every Home”. Love in Every Home gives the opportunity for our community to bless one another. Through these bundles we hope that people will receive the message that our community cares about their neighbors and are willing to go that little bit extra to show them.

On Thursday October 24th your family is invited to the Caronport Elementary School from 8:30 – 9:30 am. From 8:30 – 8:55am there will be a variety of muffins and a drink provided, as well as a chance to win a reading gift basket for your family. To win this basket, provide us with your favourite book or author to put into the draw box. Also, we will have a place for you to share more of your favourite family books on our bulletin board.

Just a reminder to have your child at school between 8:45 – 8:55 so that they are here and ready to learn. This week we had over 41 lates. Let’s get this number down to 0!
- Did You Know – There is a direct correlation between Attendance and Graduation Rates
- For the 2018-19 school year, the percentage of students in Prairie South with 80% attendance or higher was about 88%.
Briercrest Games this Monday, October 7th
We have another opportunity to work on our physical skills with the Briercrest team on Monday. Please let us know if you do NOT want your child to be involved by calling Carol on Monday morning. 306-756-2212.
Grade 3 – 8 will go to the College Gym at 1:30 for activities run by the team from 2:00- 3:00. The students will be back at the school by 3:20 to go home.
Grade K – 2 will stay at the school to have 30 minutes of skill building in our gym.
