Sr. Girls Volleyball 2014 Season
What a season the Central Butte Sr Girls volleyball team has had! Our team co-operated with Chaplin again this year, and we started it off at the Rave tournament in Loreburn Sept. 5-6th. Amanda Gibson (12), Celeste Wilson (12), Darby Klassesn(12), Jamie Sawatzky (11), Jeneanne Knapick (10) , Holly Knudsen (10) and Mikayla Blaschuck (10) played in 5 tournaments in the regular season ending up in semifinals in most of them.
The girls travelled to Avonlea on Saturday, November 8 to compete in the first round of provincial playoffs,: conferences. CBS won our first two games against Mortlach and College. We then competed against the number one ranked team and lost against Rouleau. The girls found themselves in the semifinal match against Avonlea to see who would be the second place team to move on to regionals. The Bulldogs played hard to win the first set 25-22 and lost the next two 22-25 to finish off our provincial play.
The CBS girls also played in the Moose Jaw Jr league again this year. We travelled to Moose Jaw once a week to play 3 other teams and hosted twice in Central Butte. We finished first in this league after round robin play! This league splits into grade 9-12 teams and 9-10 teams for playoffs. The CBS Bulldogs played against Cornerstone Christian School in our first round to put ourselves in the final. We found ourselves up against our nemesis for the 2014 season, Avonlea. The CBS Sr Girls volleyball team landed themselves silver medals for the 2014 league!!
What an awesome season with a great bunch of girls! We worked hard, laughed a lot and made so many great memories!! The support from these girls for each other was truly awesome!! Thank you to the parents who followed us all over after harvest ended, and to Carla Loeppky who drove the bus while harvest was prolonged . Another great year of CBS volleyball under our belt.
