Music/Band
Empire Community School offers an extensive Music Program from Pre-K to Grade 8.
Students receive core music classes that include choir, Orff (singing, xylophones, percussion instruments and movement) and World Music drumming.
Throughout the grades the students will play recorders, ukuleles, guitar and piano.
Extra-curricular music experiences include drum circles, fiddle club, guitar lessons, piano and specialty choirs.
Empire also hosts a program called Heart of the City Piano Program where students can receive free piano lessons and participate in recitals, concerts and festivals.
The Grade 7 -8 students have an opportunity to play in a Performance Drum Group call H.t N SpicE. This group practices weekly and performs at events around the city and province.
The Band program is thriving at Empire. All Grade 6 students are required to take band and have the option to continue in Grade 7 and 8. Grade 7 & 8 Empire band students have the option of
joining our South Hill Band as well.
