Mental Health Parenting Workshop Information
Water Bottle Refill Stations
Students will have access to water bottle refill stations as well as sinks some classrooms. Please ensure your child has a refillable, labeled, water bottle. It would be best if they start the day with their water bottle full from home. This will alleviate waits at the refill station/sinks.
Extra-Curricular
Extra-Curricular throughout the Prairie South School Division is on pause. The pause will be re-evaluated at the end of September.
Masks
Students in grades 4 – 12 are required to masks when in the hallways, in their classrooms (if there are more than 15 people present), and on the bus. Staff will be wearing masks in the hallways, in rooms where there are more than 15 people present, and if they teach more than one group of students a day.
Students in grades PK-3 are welcome to bring and wear a mask if they choose.
Students do not have to wear masks when outside for recess, at snack or lunch time, or during phys. ed. (which will be held outdoors weather permitting).
Teachers are working hard to plan various mask breaks throughout the day. Students will be taught, and practice, the proper procedure for putting on, and taking off, their masks. When not in use masks will be stored in a ziplok bag.
The mask policy for Prairie South School Division will be re-evaluated at the end of September.
Classroom Procedures
The warning bell will ring at 8:50 a.m. and classes will start at 8:55 a.m.
Students will be assigned a seat in each class which they will keep for 4 – 6 weeks. While doing partner/group work they will be placed in the same partners/groups for 4 – 6 weeks. Students will wash/sanitize their hands when entering a room and wipe down their work areas and wash/sanitize their hands as they leave.
Students will not be sharing materials in class.
Recess
Recesses in the elementary have been staggered so that the cohorts will have their own times/areas of the school yard.
Noon
Noon hour is the same for all students from K/M – Grade 12: 12:27 p.m. – 1:10 p.m.
Staff will ensure that students have enough time to sanitize, eat, and play outside.
Microwaves will be available for student use; however, they will need to wipe the microwave front and handle between each use. The wait time to use a microwave may be longer than usual. If possible, please consider sending lunch items that do not require microwaving.
We ask that students who live in town go home for lunch. Students who go home for lunch are asked to not return to school until 1:05 p.m.
Dismissal
High school students will be dismissed at 3:29 p.m. Elementary bus students will be dismissed next, followed by elementary town students. All students will be dismissed by 3:36 p.m.
