Two-time gold medalist Amy Alsop visited King George May 8th for Paralympic Schools Week. Amy is as inspirational speaker as she was a gold medal team leader and the students of King George were engaged and enlightened.
Duct Tape Fund Raiser
Funds were raised by our School Community Council for a new playground structure. Strips of duct tape were sold to students who used them to secure the Principal and 2 Interns to the gym wall Thursday, December 18th. The interns Tessa Hill and Lucas McKay graciously volunteered to join the Principal Mr. Milligan on the wall. Members of the Girls A basketball team got everyone up and moving (except the tapers and tapees) by teaching a line dance.

With great weather and fun activities, everyone had a great time at our Christmas/Winter Festival. Thank you to all who were able to attend and to all who helped out including: SCC Members; Warriors; Horse Drawn Wagon Ride Staff; and King George Teachers. Great job!
Swimming
Our grade 3 and 4 classes (some grade 2s from 2/3), were able to attend swimming lessons at the Kinsmen Pool the past 2 weeks. The students had a great time learning about water safety and developing their swimming skills.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are excited to announce that this year, King George School will be having a Christmas/Winter Festival on the evening of Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Wakamow`s Skating Oval (weather permitting). We have booked the Kiwanis River Park Pavilion with 8 large picnic tables and a fireplace as well as the Kiwanis River Park Lodge, a heated room located upstairs from the pavilion with seating for 40 people.

Four of our Moose Jaw Warriors visited King George classrooms to read to our Pre-K to 3/4 students. They visited 8 classrooms in total and our students were very excited.

Remembrance Day
Thank you staff for taking the time to teach your students about the significance of Remembrance Day. Special thank you to Mrs. Ansell who put in hours of work with our students to produce a wonderful Video for our assembly Thursday, November 6th. Thank you to our guest military, veterans, police and firefighters who joined us for our service. Thank you as well to our great students who were very respectful through the service.

Cross Country Season
The King George cross country team worked very hard this year. We ran in meets at Sunningdale school and Wakamow Park during September and October. Each athlete improved throughout the course of our short season and were fine representatives of King George school. Our pee wee boys won 3rd in the team division at the championship meet. A special thanks to Miss Hill who ran with the older athletes and to the parents who supported their athletes at the meets.

Jeanne Corrigal spent the day at King George School presenting to our students in 4 different age groups. She shared the video she produced about Cree Elder Jim Settee, and his matchbox teachings. Her message was well received by our students. Elder Settee epitomized life long learning receiving his university degree well into his 80s. Please ask your child what they learned from Elder Settee’s teachings.
