Book Fair

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Book Fair last week.  It was a great success with over $2400 in sales which means that the library will receive $1100 in books. Thanks again!

Family Literacy Day

On February 2nd we celebrated Family Literacy Day with a Robert Munsch Day.  The students came dressed up as Robert Munsch characters.  There was a great variety of costumes and colours!  After lunch the Grades 3&4 put on their play based on the Robert Munsch book Murmel, Murmel, Murmel to the delight of the rest of the school.  The students also took part in a scavenger hunt where they had to go around the school in pairs of high school and elementary students to find Robert Munsch characters.

Barb Frazer is a multidisciplinary Traditional Hand-building Knowledge artist and Traditional Knowledge Educator who lives in Moose Jaw.  Raised in Northwest Saskatchewan, Barb attended the Beauval Indian Residential School as a day-student, fortunately, she returned daily to a Cree speaking household, who valued ancestral customs and traditions of the Buffalo Culture.  Barb’s parents owned and operated the first Aboriginal museum in Canada,

PISA 2015 Assessment Request for Test Administrators

As you know, the PISA 2015 assessment will be taking place in your school this spring.  In preparation for the PISA 2015 Main Study Test Administration, the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC)  is ready to proceed with the recruitment of Test Administrators for this assessment. The posting is now available on the CMEC website (http://cmec.ca/508/Programs-and-Initiatives/Assessment/Programme-for-International-Student-Assessment-(PISA)/PISA-2015/index.html) along with the on-line application.   Further details about the Test Administration positions are attached.

Christmas Concert

Our K-Grade 8 students put on a delightful Christmas Concert on December 15th ending with a visit from a special guest.

Senior 1A Provincial Champions

Congratulations to the Senior 1A Volleyball team who are the provincial 1A champions!  The team finished first in their pool to play Gladmar in the quarter-finals then Fox Valley in the semi-finals.  They met up with Annaheim in the finals, defeating them in three sets.  It was an exciting weekend for the players and the school to host such a big event.  Congratulations athletes and thank you very much to the staff, parents, and community members who really made this a successful weekend!

Students get Inspired at WE Day

Some of the the SRC members attended WE Day in Saskatoon on Nov 7th.  The speakers shared messages about empowerment, using technology for good, and helped students see  that”every young person has the power to change to world”!   Ask SRC members for more information and watch for upcoming WE ACT events as students take this message forward and make change happen by supporting a local and global initiative of their choice.
