Locals Capture High School Golf District Titles
Moose Jaw high school golfers had a very strong showing at the 2015 South Central District Golf Championship on Friday at the Thompson Lake Golf Course near Gravelbourg.
The Peacock boys team – Reece Helland, Nic Wrubleski, Stephen Holzer and Cody Polupski – took the overall title with a combined score of 271, edging out Mankota by 21 strokes.
Helland led the way for Peacock, taking the District title with an 86.

A late first half goal turned the tide for the Peacock Tornadoes on Thursday in Moose Jaw High School Boys Soccer League action.
Peacock’s Ruben Engler found the back of the net to open the scoring late in the first half against the Vanier Vikings and that would spark the Tornadoes for four straight goals that led to a 4-1 win over Vanier at Canada Games Field.
“That first goal really kind of broke our back,” said Vanier head coach Jaysen Tomashewski.

The Peacock Tornadoes started the Moose Jaw High School Girls Soccer League’s 2015 season on the right foot on Thursday.
Jayme Hoffman scored four goals for the Tornadoes in a 4-1 win over the Caronport Cougars in the season opening game at Sunningdale East field.
It’s a new era for Peacock soccer as the team enters their first season without Sandi Hutchinson serving as head coach.

A Jostens Ring Representative will be at the school on Thursday, September 24th with catalogues and samples of school rings. There will be packages for parents and students to pick up as well as samples of the new designs this year. If you are interested in buying a school ring this is a great opportunity!!!

This week is “Welcome Week” which includes a variety of events for all students. Tuesday is school picture day and includes a free BBQ at lunch. Wednesday is PJ day so come to school comfortable. On Thursday there will be huge dodgeball event at lunch. Friday is school spirit day so wear your green and orange. Good luck this week to the soccer teams who start their leagues!
