Ceremony marks next step in response to Truth and Reconciliation calls to action
A Treaty 4 flag was raised at Peacock Collegiate on Thursday for the first time in the school’s history.
“It’s a simple but very important step that we take to recognize the relationship that was established between First Nations and non-Aboriginal people some 143 years ago when Treaty 4 was signed in Fort Qu’Appelle,” said Peacock principal Dustin Swanson.

Jett Kowalchuk will get the chance to suit up for his province at this summer’s 2017 Canada Games.
Earlier this month, the Peacock Toilers grade 11 forward was named to the Basketball Saskatchewan male under-17 team, which will take part in the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg this July.

The Moose Jaw High School Football League was well represented on Monday at the 2017 Senior Bowl in Saskatoon.
Ten players, including six from Peacock, played their final high school football game in the annual graduating player showcase on the holiday Monday at the Saskatoon Minor Football Field.

Quite a lot can change in only a couple of weeks.
The Moose Jaw Invitational track and field meet at the start of May saw temperatures over 30 degrees and the athletes were battling off heat exhaustion throughout the day.

Woodley turns in impressive showing at Invitational
As any distance runner will tell you, having a strong kick to close out a race will more often than not be the deciding factor.
For Peacock’s Ashton Woodley in the Moose Jaw Invitational boys 3,000 metres on Saturday, it led to one of the most impressive finishes of the day.
Running among a group of four frontrunners that included Central’s Alex Fish and Kal McGillis, Woodley put together a remarkable surge through the final turn and down the stretch,
Cridland makes triumphant return to track

For all the first place finishes and outstanding performances at the second high school track and field Mini Meet of the season on Wednesday, there were few people happier just to be out there competing than Peacock’s Meko Cridland.
Cridland took part is his first athletic ventures this school year after a devastating knee injury last summer forced him to the sidelines throughout the previous sports seasons.
Hurdlers Tuning Up for Season

Peacock grade 11 Mason Kurz also made an appearance in hurdles at provincials last year, finishing in 12th place overall after making it into the final of the 100-metre hurdles. His teammate Shawn Campbell also cracked the hurdles final and finished in 14th place.
