Dear Parents,
The Prairie South Board of Education is very committed to Prekindergarten programming for 3- and 4-year-olds and are pleased to make this program accessible to children in our community. We invite you to apply for Prekindergarten programming in Central Butte, every second day for a half day. This program is free! We may ask you to provide a snack from time to time and you will need to provide your own transportation to and from the program, but there are no monthly fees.
The program will be open at Central Butte to those who live in the Eyebrow, Craik, Chaplin, Mortlach and Caronport catchment areas. Online applications can be found on the Prairie South website. We will gather applications until May 30, 2021. When the application process ends, all of the applications will be looked at and class groupings will be determined based on:
- Any diagnosed learning needs or referrals from another agency such as Health – 4-year-olds first, then 3-year-olds
- Being eligible for Kindergarten the following school year (at least 3 yrs 8 mos on Sept 1)
- Must be potty trained
- Having a language other than English as the first language
- Having a balance of boys and girls
- Application is made in catchment area
- Each program will serve a maximum of 16 children, will be staffed by a Teacher and an Educational Assistant, and will maintain a waiting list.
You will be notified by the Prekindergarten teacher or school administrator of your child’s placement once applications have been reviewed and some time is taken to develop the class lists. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
